Change “Submit a Comment” Title and Add Extra Copy

Sep 23, 2018 | CSS Tutorial | 0 comments

There was a question I answered in one of the many Divi FB groups I’m in asking if it was possible to change the “Submit a Comment” text at the bottom of blog posts, and to also add a bit of extra text underneath it. Figured this would be a good snippet to share in case someone else might want to do that.

I’ve also thrown in some CSS to set your button text color in case you find that your settings in the customizer aren’t applying.

Before

Change Position of WooCommerce Product Title and Price

After

Change Position of WooCommerce Product Title and Price

css code

The CSS can go in your child stylesheet OR appearance > customize > additional CSS OR Divi theme options > custom CSS box.

/***********************************************/
/*** EDIT COMMENT REPLY HEADING AND ADD TEXT ***/
/***********************************************/
h3.comment-reply-title {
	font-size: 0; /* this removes the default text */
}
h3.comment-reply-title:before {
	content: "Let's Discuss!"; /* your preferred title here */
	font-size: 24px; /* you might want to change this based on your default header font */
	line-height: 1.4em;
}
h3.comment-reply-title:after {
	content: "Share your thoughts with the community."; /* add'l copy under the title */
	font-family: "Open Sans", Arial, sans-serif; /* this is the default Divi body font, you can change it if you need; if removed the text will use your chosen header font */
	font-size: 18px;
	line-height: 1.4em;
	font-weight: normal;
	display: block;
}
.submit.et_pb_button {
	color: #fff !important; /* button text color */
}

Notes:

  • I think the better way to accomplish is likely with PHP, but I don’t write PHP so this is what I got lol 🤷
  • If you remove the font-family line your extra text under the title will be your default header font.
  • This code (except the button code) will work on any WordPress theme, not just Divi.
